Finding Winning Products Without Paid Spy Tools
A repeatable research workflow using free sources: TikTok Creative Center, Meta Ad Library, Amazon reviews, and Google Trends.
Start with ad libraries
The Meta Ad Library shows every active ad and when it started running. An ad that's been live for over a month is almost certainly profitable for someone — advertisers don't keep funding losers.
TikTok Creative Center lets you filter top ads by region and industry. Note the hooks and formats, not just the products.
Mine reviews for positioning
Read the 1–3 star reviews of similar products on Amazon. Complaints like 'battery dies in a week' or 'runs small' are your marketing angles — and your supplier-vetting checklist.
Keep a spreadsheet of complaints per product. Recurring issues are either deal-breakers or differentiators.
Validate the trend line
Plug the product type into Google Trends with a 5-year window. You want a flat-to-rising line or predictable seasonality, not a spike that has already crashed.
Finally, run the idea through the Niche Feasibility Checklist to get a consistent score you can compare across candidates.
